Exercise-Induced Intranodal Atrioventricular Block
Exercise-induced atrioventricular (AV) block in patients with normal AV conduction at rest is rare. Herein, we describe the case of a 67-year-old woman with normal 1 : 1 AV conduction at rest, who developed complete AV block during a treadmill test. Our patient complained of effort-related dizziness and dyspnea, which had been ongoing for 3 months. The patient's physical examination was normal....

Circulatory arrest with deep hypothermia avoids subjecting the liver and kidneys to periods of warm ischemia. Other advantages of this technique are the physical benefits for the patient and economic benefits for the system, as the surgery is performed in a sing...
متن کاملSignificance of exercise-induced second degree atrioventricular block.
A case of second degree, type II, atrioventricular block precipitated by exercise is presented. It is suggested that exercise and other vagolytic manoeuvres may be used as a means of differentiating type I from type II atrioventricular block: the conduction disturbance of type I improves with exercise, whereas that of type II deteriorates with exercise.

متن کاملHaemodynamics during a complete exercise induced atrioventricular block.
The case is reported of an athlete who, during an exercise test, had a complete atrioventricular block without symptoms of cardiac output failure. Heart rate, stroke index, cardiac index, and myocardial contractility were monitored during the episode by an impedance cardiograph. The most important findings of this report are the continuous increase in stroke index, which compensated for the lac...
